Dear Friends,
While you may be feeling discouraged …
Watching what is going on with the abortion laws in our country,
Do not let your hearts be troubled!
I want you to know God’s Mercy is Winning!
Teresa was going to have an abortion because she was all alone in this world.
She had not received any parental guidance growing up...so she did not think she could be a parent to a baby.
She said she did not deserve any help because she had been rebellious and done bad things..
Teresa found a real sense of guidance after speaking with a compassionate counselor and chose life for her baby.
She said,
“When my family wasn’t around, and friends were not around, the women’s centers were around.
I don’t deserve what I’ve received but I want to give back by being a really good parent to my baby and changing the world.”
Teresa is now saying goodbye and turning away from the things that were leading her to abortion.
She is experiencing mercy and compassion because of this beautiful baby.
As we say goodbye to Ordinary time and reflect on what is taking place regarding the laws concerning abortion, we see that this year has been anything but ordinary.
Shouldn’t it be ordinary that a government protect the life of a child who will die by the “choice” of its parents or doctor?
Why is it ordinary that so many people remain blind to the fact that the evil of abortion is tightening its grip on our nation?
St. Paul’s words in his letter to the Corinthians remind us:
“The sting of death is sin,
and the power of sin is the law.”
The power of sin is the law - how true are these words, today more than ever!
We clearly see the power of sin at work in the laws permitting the murder of innocent children.
Nevertheless, in the face of this power, we have hope:
“Death is swallowed up in victory”
And
“... thanks be to God who gives us the victory
through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
May the victory won by Christ strengthen us,
and let us pray for the men and women responsible for the murder of hundreds of thousands of innocent lives -
that they may be truly penitent and turn to the loving Mercy and Forgiveness of God.
In Christ,
-Marie Joseph
