The amazing wonderful thing about Jesus…
He’s been on a journey, He’s tired and gets to the well, at the hottest hour of the day…12 noon!
Jesus gets there first!
and sits down there at the well...
He’s waiting for her in the hot sun… Just like He waits for you and me in our times of need for refreshment!
The Woman comes at this time because she doesn’t want to be seen.
She is ashamed because of her sinful lifestyle.
Jesus speaks first! And asks her for a drink!
It’s just like Saint Mother Teresa said when she encountered Jesus, when she heard Jesus say, “I Thirst.”
An Encounter with Jesus always comes from Him,
And He can meet us in our Samaria…at the well--
The place where we could be most ashamed... The place where we feel most alone -- abandoned -- and maybe a place where we’ve been burned by the heat of past sinfulness.
Jesus offers the Woman -- who represents us all -- Living Water!
The Living Water that could live within her forever, so she wouldn’t have to thirst again for sin, and any things in her life that would hurt her ever again!
The Living Water that has the power to transform lives!
The Holy Spirit living water of Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Gentleness, and all fruits of the Spirit!
AH, THANK GOD for giving us this Living Water!
Lent is the time set apart for us to be refreshed!
We are on the journey -- we are tired from the burdens of life,
And we need this Living Water!
It reminds me of the women coming to our women’s centers seeking an abortion because they have an unplanned pregnancy! When they come ashamed, alone, and in the heat of their crisis --
Our counselors meet them with the living water and they encounter truth... and then transformation happens.
We have to remember what Jesus said later in the Gospel of John 15:16:
“You did not choose me but I chose you.
And I appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask him in my name.”
The Woman at the well did not keep this Good News to herself -- she spread it to everyone she knew and many came to believe in the Lord Jesus.
The living water has a transformative ripple effect that lasts forever to, and through, the generations in your families and through the thousands of children that are saved at the centers! Let’s make sure this Sunday and for the rest of Lent, and always,
to ask God for this living water!
We ask this in Jesus name! And whatever we ask in His name, the Father will give us! We must trust and believe in this Good News!
And if you are looking for a way to share the good news of saving lives… Please join us on St. Joseph’s feast day next week,
on March 19th at 6pm at our Bristol Center for our Lenten TOUR for LIFE!
Come and see for yourself and bring a friend!
